A Day of Creativity and Culture at CommuniTree Festival – Sunday 8th June 2025!
Get ready for an exciting celebration of creativity, culture, and community at CommuniTree Festival – Creative Workshop Day! This free-entry, family-friendly event takes place on Sunday, 8th June 2025, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the beautiful Nottingham Girls’ High School, located at 9 Arboretum Street, Nottingham.
What’s Happening?
CommuniTree Festival is bringing together a fantastic selection of global performing arts activities and visual arts workshops. There’ll be a variety of hands-on workshops that celebrate cultures from around the world. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or just looking to try something new, there’s something for everyone:
Ghanaian Percussion: Feel the rhythm and learn traditional drumming techniques with Samuel Yeboah Nkrumah
Mandinka Songs with Live Kora Music: Experience the soulful sounds of West Africa with Ansumana Suso
Empowerment Doll Making: Craft meaningful dolls that symbolise strength and unity with Rita Kappia
Bhangra Dance Moves: Get your body moving with energetic dance from The Punjab with Vijay Mehay
All activities are designed to be inclusive and suitable for ages 7 years and upwards, with no prior experience needed. It’s a perfect opportunity for families to explore new cultures together.
Venue Highlights
The event will be held in the main hall and atrium area of Nottingham Girls’ High School, providing a spacious and welcoming environment for all attendees. There will be refreshments available for purchase, and plenty of seating areas to relax and soak in the creative atmosphere!
Evening Concert – Sounds of the City
Why not come back to the school site later for another celebration! Join CommuniTree later in the evening for CommuniTree Festival – Sounds of the City concert, starting at 6:30pm. Enjoy performances by talented artists, including kora harpist Ansumana Suso and his percussion trio, the Ukrainian School Band led by Iryna Muha, Latin grooves with Mas y Mas, and captivating spoken word by Hil the Poet and Blu.
