Thanks For Having Us Takeover Festival! Empowering Mansfield's Youth Through Creativity and Culture
This wasn't just a day of fun (though it definitely was that too!) – it was a demonstration of what happens when young people are trusted, supported and given space to lead.
Huge thanks to Nonsuch Studios and Captivate for inviting us to take part in their event.
The festival was curated by young creatives from local schools, colleges, and youth organisations, who worked closely with professional artists to plan and deliver a full programme of performances, workshops and installations. From live DJ sets and hip-hop to mask-making, clay art and dance – every corner of the event invited people of all ages to get involved and feel the joy of creativity.
We were genuinely inspired by the energy, warmth and ambition on display, and it reminded us how powerful cultural experiences can be in bringing communities together.
Why Festivals Like This Matter
Events like Takeover aren’t just about showcasing talent – they’re about creating access, building confidence, and showing young people that their ideas matter. They spark imagination, offer new ways to connect, and help shape a cultural landscape where everyone feels they belong.
We left feeling re-energised, hopeful, and reminded of the importance of what we do – and how vital it is to keep championing creativity in schools, communities, and public spaces.
💛 Thank you again to Captivate, Nonsuch Studios, and all the incredible young people, artists and educators who made the day so special. We can’t wait to see what’s next.
